Speakers will also provide key tips when seeking to do business with the Government. \nThis is a great opportunity to enhance your knowledge on a variety of topics pertaining to the agency. Items will be presented specifically by the organization’s subject matter experts with topics including the following: \nProcurement forecasts\, Agency Operations/Execution\, Design and Construction\, Cyber Security\, Environmental\, and Contracting. \nAdditional outside agencies will also present program updates. \nThis is also an enormous opportunity to network and collaborate with industry partners in one location. DESCRIPTION:HISBDC Pathways to Profits webinars are designed for small businesses in operation for at least two years\, have a good track record in their specialty\, and want to grow to the next level.  \nThe Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program fuels small business growth in historically underutilized business zones with a goal of awarding at least 3% of federal contract dollars to HUBZone-certified companies each year. \nThis webinar is designed for potential and existing federal government contractors gain an understanding of the HUBZone program which helps small business growth in certain urban and rural areas. We’ll be covering SBA Certifications for small businesses\, how veterans can access the State’s Surplus Program\, how to find contracting opportunities with HI-PTAC’s Bid Match\, and tips for navigating the City permitting process. \nOur guest speakers from the Small Business Administration (SBA)\, Veteran Business Outreach Center (VBOC)\, and Hawaii Procurement Technical Assistance Center (HI-PTAC)\, will present throughout the morning: \nLori Hiramatsu\, (VBOC): SBA VETCert and the State Surplus Program\nM﻿ichael Youth\, (SBA): 8(a) Certification & Native Hawaiian Organization Certification\nE﻿rin Kanehira (HI-PTAC): Women-Owned Business Certification and HUBZones\nFollowing that\, Clayton Shimazu\, the Customer Service Program Administrator from the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Permitting and Planning\, will cover the basics of City and County Building Permitting and frequently asked questions regarding businesses. To respect the time of all attendees\, the Q&A on City and County Building Permitting will only cover general questions about the permitting process. Questions specific to an individual’s permit will not be taken. \nAfter our scheduled presentations\, attendees will be offered short 1:1 business counseling on the certifications covered.
