Hawaii Defense Economy

The Hawaii Defense Economy project is developed by the State of Hawai‘i through the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) with the support from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) – Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation. The project uses data from DoD contracts and grants awarded to the state of Hawai‘i to better understand the defense industry supply chain and improve the state’s response to future changes in military requirements and spending levels.

Cyber Safe Hawaii

Cyber Safe Hawaii is a collaborative effort led by the State of Hawaii Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism and community resource partners to highlight the importance of cybersecurity for small businesses. Funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), services provided include: cyber awareness training for companies to offer their employees, technical assessments of IT systems to identify vulnerabilities, penetration testing to validate security, and recovery services if applicable. These services (valued at over $5,000) are being offered by DBEDT at NO COST to a limited number of Hawaii small businesses through a grant from the SBA. Find out if your business is eligible today!

Cyber Safe Hawaii

Cyber Ready Hawaii

Cyber Ready Hawaii is a free program that will provide training and mentoring for Cyber Leader professionals who will assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with basic cybersecurity hygiene and safeguarding measures required for compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 52.204-21.

Cyber Ready Hawaii is funded by the State of Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) and developed with CyberHawaiiʻs national partner Cyber Readiness Institute. CyberHawaii members will support the effort as industry mentors for the Cyber Leaders.

Cyber Ready Hawaii is currently recruiting SMEs and nonprofits to participate in the program. To sign up, visit cyberhawaii.org/cyber-readiness.

eResilience

Referentia’s eResilience division, which specializes in defense industrial base cybersecurity services, launched its Hawaii Defense Economy Cyber Compliance Education Program. Available to Hawaii-based DoD contractors, the online education platform offers an educational webinar video to help contractors understand, differentiate and navigate the various DoD cybersecurity contracting requirements. For qualified businesses, eResilience will also provide consulting assistance to Hawai‘i-based, DoD contractors handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and support them in completing a NIST800-171 Compliance Gap Analysis to help ensure continued eligibility for new awards and prevent any loss of contracts.
